Kat performs in concert around the world, both as a solo artist,
and with many different fantastic musicians.
As a Solo flautist, Kat's music creates a beautiful, celestial
ambiance as the sound of the various flutes seems to waft and
float from canyon walls, to the rainforest, to a cool Celtic
stream, as she performs on classical flute, bass flute, Native
American flute, and various flutes from around the world. The
solo flute sound is perfect acoustically or with sound amplification,
when a soft, elegant background is desired, or as a truly unique
sound on the concert stage.
live solo performances include: the Guggenheim Museum in NYC, and Spain, The National Gallery, Washington DC, Metropolitan
Museum of Art, NYC, concerts at the Hollywood Palace, L.A., Palazzo
dei Diamanti in Italy, Naples Winter Wine Festival, with Dance
Troupes, and for many art openings. She has traveled to the far
reaches of the globe including China, Africa, Russia, The Amazon,
Europe, Peru, Mexico, Japan, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean, to
learn of the people, natural environment, and the music of other
cultures. She uses music in her work toward environmental and
humanitarian awareness, and has amassed a large collection of
flutes from cultures around the world, which she features in
her original compositions.
Flute with a keyboardist is a fuller, yet ethereal sound, and
incorporates new age, Impressionistic, Celtic and classical elements.
The music is all original, with a sophisticated ambient sound,
and is performed and composed by long-time friends, Kat and Chuck
Grinnell. It is Spellbinding and flowing, with exquisite intricacies,
this music can create a perfect relaxed and intimate atmosphere,
as the melodies, chords, and textures are unique and complex, and
are performed by two incredibly accomplished, innovative instrumentalists.
Perfect for art opening, cocktail hour, elegant party, or in
the concert hall. Their recently released album, "Azure
Pieces of Life" is distributed worldwide.
piano chords fill the background, with notes hanging suspended
and flutes wafting over the surface, to create a feel of
wide open spaces and cozy warmth. Other tracks exhibit a
slightly more "jazz" influence, then a touch of romance,
then a touch of almost Victorian and then glimpses of blue
skies and clear waters as the almost Mediterranean vibe comes
upon us. Overall, it's gorgeous. Just flutes and keyboards
and music distilled to a melodic, atmospheric rich and rewarding
whole that serves the head and the heart on languid, sunny
days when all you want to do is float away to that special

"Listening to Kat's band could be compared to walking in a forest
late at night and listening to the sounds of nature, or wading
into the sea at the first light of dawn, and feeling the crash
of the waves." Maureen Bashaw, Fort Myers News-Press
